Dear Graduation Project Judges,
I choose to research special needs kids and the benefits of them being involved in regular sports and activities could benefit them. I chose this topic because I have always felt that children with down syndrome, autism, etc. would be able to live a more normal life and have numerous benefits from simply just being involved in regular sports and activities. My product allowed me to experience the affects sports and activities have on special needs children. It was all about learning for me when it came to this project. Research has never been enough to make me believe one thing or another because I like to see things first hand.
I learned many different things about myself through this project. I now know and understand how to plan out and execute a large project. I can write an actual research paper the way it is supposed to be done. Through my project I realized that I am really good with working with kids no matter if they have a disability or not. Once I opened up to these kids and started being myself they followed suit. I may not have decided what I want to pursue as my career but this project has helped me mark one thing off the list and that is being a special needs teacher. I personally do not think I could handle the things they go through everyday.
The easiest part of my project was coming up with ideas of what I wanted to do for my product. Even when one idea got nixed it didn’t take me long to find another one. I thought actually completing the whole graduation project was easy in general, the hard part was finding the time to do it all. Time was the most difficult part for me. I do a lot of things outside of school and finding time to sleep is hard enough much less finding time to do a twenty hours project. I think this project will help me learn to manage my time better in the future when I am planning, hopefully just help me time manage anything. I think this project has given me a more open mind when it comes to special needs children as well.
Thank you for your time,
